When did you start racing? I started racing when I was 5. My Dad and I always watch Supercross and that is what made me want to race.
Tell us about your mechanic: My Dad, Bryan Stewart is my mechanic. Most
What is Shannon like and how has he helped? Shannon is very strict! He wants us to stay in shape. He teaches us proper technique, which is sometimes hard to do, like keeping the balls of your feet on the pegs and using your front brake. What is a typical day for you? When I get home from school, I just play on my skateboard or bicycle, unless my Dad is off work. When he is off work, we either go riding or fishing. What do you do to get hyped and ready for your next moto? Just think about winning the moto and wonder if I need to do certain jumps. Do you do any other crossover sports? I like to go to the skate park and also jump ramps on my bicycle. If you had to pick any other sport to be pro at, what would you pick? Fishing
Favorite joke: Tyler says he has non jokes that are PG rated. What are your goals for 2005? I would like to win Loretta's again and place in the top five of every National. Give us a rundown of your most accomplished goals of the past few years: In the last few years I have won most of the LL qualifiers, got second at three of the regionals and won the championship once.

From the Parents What is Tyler's strongest trait? Tyler is very competitive on the track. He would rather receive any place other than 2nd. But, once he is off the track he is just a normal kid. Describe his personality: Tyler is very laid back, there is always a smile on his face and he hangs out with kids any age as long as they are having fun. What one thing have you tried to teach him? The one thing that we have tried to teach him is to do the best of his ability no matter what the next guy is doing. How has the sport of motocross help bring you family closer? Motocross has brought our family closer because it is truly a family sport. We spend every weekend together. We all have a job. Tyler-the racer, Dad-mechanic, Mom-watergirl and gear getter, little brother-cheers him on. Tell us about your most memorable road trip: Loretta Lynn's in 2003. We were just hoping for a top ten and he surprised us by winning the championship. We were so proud! Do you have any advice for other parents who plan to take part in the sport the way that you have? Our advice is to stand behind them 100%, always be ready for the good and the bad, and last but not least, thank God for keeping them safe. |
